Special Educational and Disability Needs (SEND)
At East Haddon Primary School, we believe all of our pupils can achieve great things when they are given opportunity, motivation and caring support. We offer a range of additional and different arrangements to support children with Special Education and Disability Needs (SEND).
All of our children receive support that is specific to their individual needs at the present time. This may be provided by the class teacher, or with support from a Teaching Assistant, or may also involve:
- advice and support from the School's Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENDCO) and other members of staff within the school,
- staff who visit the school from the Local Authority central services, such as the Educational Psychologist, Specialist Teachers for autism, ADHD, teachers from the Sensory Service or team members from Behaviour Support Service,
- staff who visit from outside agencies such as the NHS Speech and Language Therapy Service.
If you would like to speak to our Headteacher (SENDCO), Claire Truslove, then please do not hesitate to contact us on 01604 770462 to arrange a meeting. Your child's class teacher will also be happy to chat with you, at a mutually convenient time, about any concerns or queries you may have.
A child has SEND if they have a learning difficulty or disability which calls for special educational provision to be made for him or her. A child has a learning difficulty or disability if he or she: has a significantly greater difficulty in learning than the majority of others of the same age, or has a disability which prevents of hinders him or her from making use of facilities of a kind generally provided for in mainstream schools.
